The back room

A few people who attended my Marketing Meetup session asked for the books and the actions I mentioned. Here they are, all in one place.

3 books

Show Your Work by Austin Kleon

Show Your Work

Austin Kleon

Short, full of pictures, and it will make you feel much better about putting things out before they're finished.

The Practice by Seth Godin

About shipping on the days it doesn't feel like it's working, which, let's be honest, is most days.

The Squiggly Career by Helen Tupper and Sarah Ellis

The Squiggly Career

Helen Tupper and Sarah Ellis

This is the book I wrote about in post 17, the post that led to 5 years of work. It also has the values exercise a few of you asked about.

These are Bookshop.org links, supporting independent bookshops. I may earn a small commission to keep the light on.

3 things to do this week

  1. Look at your last 9 posts and ask whether a stranger could tell what you sell or stand for.

  2. When somebody new gets in touch, ask how they found you. Write it down for 12 weeks.

  3. Answer this honestly: if somebody in my industry described me to somebody else in one sentence, without checking my profile, what do I want them to say? That sentence is your sign.
